This piece enacts an interactive toy theater rendition of a carnival game of shoot the running deer. It also makes a shadow theater display of the events on a paper screen on the other end.

The viewer can shoot with the toy gun and if successful the running deer stops and falls dead in its tracks (but does pop again after a short time and resume running).

Fair Game #1 is exhibited with its sister piece, "Fair Game #2", which in similar circumstances allows the viewer to play out the scenario, all too common at the time in Iraq, of blowing upon a Hummer.
